My mother-in-law: Jane-of-All-Trades

It started when my sister-in-law bought a silver cup at Value Village, and asked Mama Snoek to polish it. Not a problem, except that by polishing the cup, she looked at the silver in her China cabinet and thought….”one of these days I’m going to get rid of that thing.” That was on Friday. On Saturday, she saw something that caught her eye for a good price in a flyer. By Monday evening, even after a weekend away, a cabinet had been purchased and brought into the house. The next day, I walked home from work to the sight and smell of wood being assembled…a beautiful cabinet, and a new dresser for good measure. This morning, as I groggily walked upstairs, there was the super-woman on a step-ladder, kitchen flipper in hand, scraping the wallpaper border that had for so long adorned the living room. By the time I arrived home from work tonight, after having her own busy work-day, there was a fresh coat of paint on her scraped and washed walls.

She seems especially fast when you compare her with the Barnhoorn way of home renovation, eh?

As a side note, my lovely wife's first comment was "what's she going to do with the old china cabinet?"

And the saga of the ugly china cabinet continues...

Sorry, Nicole - Dad tossed the old china cabinet on the "burn pile" in the gravel pit....
