A Getaway

I have gotten some very wonderful gifts over my life; truly I am blessed with many thought-full people. It was my birthday recently (enough said) and one of my thought-full gifts came from my parents (*Thank you* again). Inside a beautiful card was a coupon - They were to come to our house to watch the kids, and send me and my most wonderful husband away for the weekend. The coupon came complete with the hotel reservation number of a very swank hotel. Apparently the last few times my parents have seen me I have looked exhausted - and they wanted to do something about it.

So, this was the weekend, and off we went to enjoy our time together. The last time we did this was in October, not really all that long ago, but apparently long enough to forget what a treat it is to just be a couple, to spend uninterrupted time with my absolute best friend. I have to say that my Rodney is a wonderful husband, and he gets more wonderful the more I am married to him.

Everything about the weekend was just "nice" - even getting gas and stopping for groceries on the way was somehow an adventure. Our mandate was to rest and enjoy, which we did. So much so that we forgot to take our camera on everything we did.

But don't worry, we still packed a lot in. We took the "scenic route" to our nation's capital...and got a little lost; we went out for lunch at Rod's favourite restaurant; we spent our time wandering and even "walking" (for those who go for "walks" with kids, you will know the excitement of a real "walk") Parliament Hill and Byward Market (and treated ourselves to a Beavertail - I am sad to admit that it was the first of my life -but hopefully not my last. We tried to go swimming but it was a little crowded with everyone else's kids. Instead we went out for a fancy dinner. We didn't go to church, but instead had fellowship and a lovely breakfast with a dear friend; we went to a few museums; and I had my first experience in this store.

A most enjoyable weekend, with an even more enjoyable man.

So glad for you! And I have to say that is probably the best thing that your parents could have given you! I agree, real walks are a treat.
