Well, as of a few days ago, it’s official…we have booked and paid for a winter vacation. We actually can’t take any of the credit, another friend did all the work in booking and planning our trip; for our part all we had to do was say yes and pay for it! And so, in late February, accompanying Rob J. and Josh, we plan to go skiing on the snowy and cold slopes of Nagano. I’m excited to see a new part of Japan and be able to have a cheap trip out of it.
For those of you who know me, and know anything about my past, you know that I am not a winter-lover, nor am I inclined to do any form of winter activity (with the possible exception of tobogganing). It’s just too darn cold! I’m not totally sure why people would willingly submit themselves to hours upon hours of coldness and wetness, when they could stay nice and dry and warm inside. Blame it on my upbringing if you want…I do! Some of you may also know my past with skiing: to be honest, there’s not much of a past. Every time I was convinced to brave the cold and be courageous enough to try the phenomenon called skiing, a tumble of some form was the result. Crashing into fences, falling off chairlifts, people pointing and laughing at me, people doubled over and laughing at me, sliding down on my belly, sliding down on my back, and getting stuck in a bush are all part of my skiing repertoire. It takes a special skill to be this good!
And so, with my excel-at-everything husband and two other “true Canadians” I plan to brave the slopes, where I have been told even the bunny hills have moguls.

try not to fall of any chairlifts... or crash into any fences.... Though i admit the vision of you doing such made me laugh bec :). I hope you have an AWESOME time! Take care though! And let us know how it was! p.s. i'd really like to hear more about this bush story... :)
Have a blast! I got chocolate from Nagano today...was white, and oh so good! My students on their class trip brought it back for me. Oh, and blueberry pie stuff, that was tasty too. Be sure to try some new food while you're there! I order you!
Love you guys!
