Day One: Thursday
We left Japan on the 13th, after getting up at about 4:30 in order to make it to our flight in time. It was an uneventful trip, and we arrived in Beijing around 12:30, and then took a bus and a (long) walk to our hotel. The Christmas decorations that were still up and the poster that read “No one here gets out alive” should have tipped us off as to its caliber. Either way it was a roof over our heads, and reasonably inexpensive, so it did the job just fine.
We spent the evening indulging in pizza (as per the boys’ requests) and then took a walk around the city, taking in a few of the sights, including the Chongwen Gate, the old city wall, which is over 550 years old. As you can see, Bec was rather excited to be in China, a fact that did not impress the guards who didn't really like people walking on the grass :)

Ya, I'm sorry I wasn't with you guys. Just being able to share the memories would have made the trip. anyway, I'll try to make it out to see you before we leave.
Great to have you back again. I'm sure you had a great time. I can't believe this is going to be done in installments. Good thing I'm done school now, so I can check in four or five times everyday just to see if you've updated.
Yeah Jono, installments are the way to go. This way we can drag out our trip for another week :) Besides, we don't have that much interesting going on these days.
And Nathan, we would love to get together with you before you take off. Let us know.
