Day Eight: Thursday

Our last day in China was relaxing – we had seen and done so many things, that we all decided to take it easy – that, and we had a plane to catch, so we didn’t really have time to do too much else. We found a great bakery for breakfast, packed our bags, and jumped on the bus that would take us to the airport. There really isn’t too much exciting to write about our flight home….anyone who has traveled knows that airports really aren’t the most thrilling or interesting places to be for three hours!
We arrived back in Japan mid-evening…it was a strange feeling coming home…we were “home” but not really: “home” is such an ambiguous and vague word. We still can’t understand the language, we still stick out where ever we go, but we felt like we were back to where we were comfortable. Home Sweet Home!

Here are some of Rod's favourite shots from the trip:

A young girl flying a kite in Tian'men Square

One of the many methods of transportation available

A Chinese pickup truck - many of the work trucks are tricycles!

Four old men on a dusty country road

Thanks Rach, it is one of my favourites. Bec told me I spelled the name wrong though... but I just tried to look it up, and I can't find one correct way: either Tian'enmen, Tiananmen, or Tian'nmen square. Either way, I figured everyone would know what I was talking about :) -Rod
