-After living out of our suitcases for the past month, we have finally moved our selves to Kingston to join our stuff. For a variety of reasons, foreseen and otherwise, the week or two week stay with Rod’s parents was somewhat stretched. They were more than kind to put us up for so long. Not much time was actually spent there, as we were busy going to Hamilton for a few weddings, visiting a new baby in the Niagara area, family camping near Orillia, visiting the “prodigal son” in Port Perry, and staying otherwise occupied.
-The next few weeks promise to be just as adventurous: We are leaving tonight to visit my brother Daniel, then a funeral tomorrow for Rod’s uncle, then camping with some dear friends, then back to Kingston for a few days, then a hopeful trip to Newfoundland for a week and a half with some other dear friends, then back to Port Perry to say good-bye to my oldest brother and his family who will be leaving for a 3 or 4 year stay in Nigeria, and then back to our “home” of Kingston. Maybe one day we’ll get to live here.
-Our sister, Katie arrived safely in Kuwait for a year’s teaching experience.
-We received our first Kingston Utilities bill. It was for over $50: $4.08 was our actual electricity usage.
-We had to buy a new table for our apartment: our other one was just too big to fit. We went to a thrift shop, saw it for $8, decided it would do nicely if we just put a tablecloth over it, and were then given a “student discount.” Yay. Good deals make me happy.
