Thicker Than Water

This past weekend we were able to enjoy the annual Snoek campout. For 20 years, it has been a tradition for the entire family to go camping on the August long weekend; this year's turnout was about 50 or 60 people.

Both Rod and I came away realizing the blessing that is family: our grandpa who has lived a long and faithful life and still has the strength, energy and passion to camp; our newest nephew, who turned three weeks old while there; our cousin who has safely returned from serving in Afghanistan; our uncle who is dying of cancer and so could not be there; a cousin who is getting married in a few days’ time; a sister who is leaving for Kuwait…In it all, a family who supports and encourages each other. It is a good gift.

In other news, my “little big” brother returned from 5 months in Tanzania (how is it that he is 6 years my junior and more than 6 inches my superior?). Welcome back, Daniel!
