My new Job

by Rod
Well, due to popular demand (thanks Katie), here are a few details about my new job. I am working in the construction industry as a (soon to be) apprentice carpenter. The company is named Heartwood, and it serves the Kingston and surrounding areas. Today was my third day, and things have been going pretty well so far. I have been working on an addition to a house which overlooks a lake in a country setting about 20 minutes north of Kingston. It is a beautiful location, and although the work is hard, it is rewarding. The guys I have been working with are a little rough around the edges, but decent and friendly.
I actually got this job through a government program called "Job Connect". I met a gentlemen who works for that program while I was attending my aunt Carolyn's church, and had a meeting with him on Wednesday of last week, and I was hired over the phone for this job on Thursday night, and was working Friday morning. The whole experience was very efficient and effective, I must say. It doesn't sound like anything government related, I know, but somehow this one slipped through the bureaucratic cracks :)
Anyways, I was looking for something in the mechanic field, but construction was another good option, and this was a good opportunity, so I figured I wouldn't let it slip by.

Katie, as the sole reader of our blog, you can make pretty much any demand you want :)
I'll see what kind of pictures we have floating around.

I still read your blog too! But I've noticed all blog traffic has considerably slowed down, now that Facebook is the main deal. Anyways congratulations on your new job Rod! I know you will make a great carpenter. Maybe some day you can have a side business in photography too. This blog is worth visiting for the pictures alone, but add Becky's stories to that and it's even better.

Hey, Not fair...
I read your blog too - you just don't reply to our comments very often so it feels like a one sided conversation...

Suzanne - thank you! Those are kind words! I hope things are going well for you, and congrats on your baptism!
Dawn - A HUGE congrats to you and Steve on your new baby! Did you get the card we sent? I hope you're doing well and adjusting well to motherhood.
Katie - we have less pictures of or apartment than I thought(i.e. 0). I'll try to get Rod to take some soon.
