Moving Day

It has been a busy last little while, as, between the other committments and events of life, most of our world has revolved around house renovations. Every weekend and most evening have involved some form of house repair; the last two or three weeks have been especially busy as we have been feeling the "crunch time." Fortunately, we have not been living in the house, as we have been house-sitting. God's good timing in providing the "extra" house when we needed it has been such a blessing.
The renovations have been exciting and draining: we could not have done it without the support, encouragement, skills, and elbow-grease of our parents and friends. And...things have come and are coming along: all that we have done looks good. (I say that not with pride, but with pleasure.) It has been a lot more work that we first thought, but so far I think it's been worth it. We have replaced the floor joists (they were rotten, and the floor (and therefore the whole house) was at an angle); we have repainted everything; we have moved a door and covered a door; created a window and covered a window; gutted and redone the whole kitchen; redone most of the bathroom; turned a tiny room/large closet into 3 tinier rooms/closets; torn down half a dozen or so "closets"; ripped up and redone some floors; redone some of the ceilings, discovered eleven layers of wallpaper...and then re-drywalled. I'm sure there is much more that I am forgetting....but much more still to do. We haven't touched the upstairs or the outside yet and there are quite a few "details" that need doing, but that will come later, I'm sure. For now, it is liveable, and twice the space that we had before.
And so...last week, after 2 months of packing, moving, cleaning, and extensive renovations, we took the plunge and moved into our new home. Unpacking has yet to be done....but we are working slowly on that.
Home Sweet Home.
