How (Not) To Take a Family Photo

Our church is updating its directory, and a few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to send in an updated photo. Since "I" had been born in the meanwhile, Rod and I thought we would like to do just that.
Step 1 - Set up the camera, and take a practice shot.

Step 2: Keep on trying...
Here are some highlights (not the whole process. Yes, there are *lots* more that I didn't put in.)

Oops...the timer wasn't quite long enough (who needs to see N anyway?)
Not bad....but it looks a little awkward. Let's try again.
G decides closing his eyes is funny. "I" thinks it's time to start crying - a *lot.*
I think that G needs help keeping his eyes open. "I" is *almost* not crying again.
G puts on his "I hate the world" face.
N thinks that it would be an opportune time to go hunting in her nose. "I" decides it would be another good time to start crying.
Maybe a different location? Switch things up a bit?

Apparently, not so much.

Step 3: Decide that Attempt #2 was really not so bad or awkward after all. Why did we even try for anything better?

And that's why I use Photoshop so much with our Christmas Family pictures! Take a dozen, and then cut, copy & paste the faces - until it looks as though everyone is happy & content!
Love the pictures - every one of them!

I'm laughing, family pictures are just like that! Well, these would be perfect for the calendar anyway. (although they need to be bigger).
