End of an Era

About a year ago Rod and I were talking with an aunt and an uncle and they made the comment that the oldest child opens the doors and the youngest child closes them. I asked if it was sad that the doors closed and they replied that by the time you got to the youngest, it was okay.
As emotional as I can be, so far their words have been true.

Except:

This month, S outgrew (finally) the infant car seat. Of all the baby things I have happily and excitedly passed on, for some reason I felt a sad tinge when I saw my "baby" girl in a toddler car seat.
The old one has been used for every single one of our kids, plus shared with a few others along the way. Talk about a familiar piece of furniture!

r.i.p.
It's been a fun ride.
