Yet Another List of Trivial Events from the Last Few Days

By Bec
-Once again, our Japanese teacher thoroughly spoiled us. After learning that we were both interested in Thai food, she invited us to go to the restaurant in Himeji; apparently the owner takes frequent trips to Thailand to buy the ingredients himself. It was a wonderful evening of incredible food and fine company. It happened that one of my students was there with her business for a “summer party.” She came over to our table and apologized for being so loud (they weren’t really), and I told her it was not a problem at all. Her boss then came over and invited us to join in the festivities, gave us cards to play bingo, and even let us choose prizes afterwards! We walked out of there with full bellies, good memories, and two pair of Fila sandals.
-Of significance from the Thai restaurant….I ate prawns, and I actually enjoyed them! Noteworthy indeed.
-Two weeks from tomorrow we leave for Canada.
-We were invited to go to Suma beach after work last night, famous for its fun atmosphere…a Japanese-style Wasaga Beach, we were told. So, after work we took the train…. instead of a rockin’ good time as we were promised, it was mostly a beach covered in garbage and inebriated young folk.
-Our greedy and insatiable toilet is back…this time it took our dental floss. It was irretrievable really. It was especially ironic because it was the dental floss that dear Mama Snoek kindly sent over to replace our other dental floss….which also got swallowed up by the toilet.
-Rod just walked in the door a happy camper…he bought a lens (second-hand) for our camera. A new toy!
-We went to the beach with our friend Josh Baxter on Friday…it was a great day of eating picnic food, playing with the soccer ball and burning our feet on the sand, cooling them down in the ocean. Rinse. Repeat. Afterwards, we were introduced to the hilarious world of MXC. We laughed until it hurt. ‘Twas a more than an enjoyable day off.
-After unlocking our door when we returned from the beach last night, I saw a shadow skitter across the floor. My first instinct was “BUG!” Instead of screaming like I did last time, I bravely squashed it with my foot. Only to realize that it was a small dust-ball.

I am sooooo happy that you have found the wonderful world of MXC. Now you, Rod, Ben, Nicole and I can sit around and giggle like school children.

Welcome to the Dark Side.

Oh, and tell Rod to feed his toilet more often. I suggest beer and sausages.
