For the last few days, we’ve been wondering what interesting or noteworthy news we can post. The truth is our life right now seems very “normal” and routine.
But, part of our routine has been to have a date with each other every Tuesday; it works amazingly well with our work schedule. Since we are creatures of habit…we go to the same fabulous place every week: Coco-Ichi. My students laugh when I tell them it’s my favourite restaurant: it’s considered by most to be about on par with a fast-food place. It’s nothing special really: the staff wear ugly brown and orange uniforms and the décor, in the same brown and orange, is a bit reminiscent of a diner from the 70’s. But, the service is fast and friendly (our favourite waitress looks like a Japanese version Miss Stacey from Road to Avonlea) and the food is fantastic! Every time we go we are greeted by the customary “Irasshaimase!” (Welcome to our store! Thank you for coming! Can I help you?) There is about 15 or 20 different kinds of curry to order, but the really neat thing is that after we order what kind of curry we want, we get to personalize it by changing the size of the order and the spice level. We aren’t at the point yet where they have our order ready and waiting for us before we come in….but maybe soon! We’ll keep going until they do!
