Sweet Dreams and Stinky Diapers

1) Last night, Gideon slept from 8:00 pm straight through until 7:00 am.
Do you know how exciting that is??

2) On Monday, I looked over at my happily playing boy...and noticed that he had brown coming up his back. "Oh no." I thought. I picked him up, only to realize that he also had brown coming down his leg. I had a similar thought to my first one, only stronger. Not fully sure what my best course of action was, I held him at arms length for a few moments and decided that I would probably use up more wipes than was good for the environment...that and he has a newly acquired habit of squirming and rolling all over the place when I change him. So, I plopped him in our bathtub; the plan was to rinse him off and then put him into his bathtub. I'll spare all the details, but I will say that poop ended up *everywhere*...my arms, my hands, his neck, shoulders, arms, hands and feet (which, combined with the now-added water made a very slippery surface...all the better to spread with), our bathtub, his bathtub. Gross.
In the end he and I were both cleaned, the bathroom was bleached and the floors were mopped. I was glad things like this don't happen everyday.
And then yesterday....it happened again.
The exact same thing.
Today, I was on the lookout. At the first sign, I picked him up and changed him before it got out of control. A little managed to escape, but nothing to write home about. I took his soiled sleeper off and started to replace it with a shirt - I hadn't even got it over his head when he did it *again*.
Am I supposed to look for a silver lining in all this....such as "at least he's regular"? It's pretty bad when your husband leaves for work and says, "Have a good day; I hope it doesn't involve too much poop."
Thanks...You too?

Morals of the story...
1) Babies poop a lot
2) Babies outsmart you - every time

Have you introduced a new food for him?
hmm.
Silver lining? well....if he was a bit older, you would have an easier time potty-training him -before no time, he'd quickly "do his business" - you'd clap and dance and do cartwheels around him...and he'd figure out what it is you're trying to get him to do. However...he's too young at the moment. But...hold that thought for when he's older.

Sleeping through the night? pooping through the eye of a needle? Sounds like he may be coming down with something.
You may have a quiet Mother's Day!
I hope not. I hope he's just exhibiting those strong Snoek poop-regularity genes.

Becs,

You are hilarious. I am sitting in my living room laughing hystarically and I you already told me the poop story over the phone...yes, you are THAT funny.
I guess, it is fair that I laugh becuase Jude pooped in the tub the other day and then peed on the carpet when I was trying to clean the tub.
I am pretty sure that there is no silver lining.

By the way - in case you don't read post blog comments - your house is looking AMAZING!! Well done with the re-decorating/re-modelling! I love the Psalms script that you have in Gideon's bedroom too! Did you make it?

Hi guys! Your house looks great and so does Gideon! I can relate to the sleep (yay!!) and also to the poop. A similar mess when I fed J. ground-up chili. Once was at church. Anyways, take care and enjoy the house!
