Why Dogs Chase Cars is a collection of stories written about a young man raised by his father in a backwater town in the south, where the "gene pool is so shallow that it wouldn't take a Dr. Scholl's insert to keep one's soles dry." I have to admit, I didn't love this book. Perhaps it is because I have been reading so many life-changing, life-giving books lately (particularly the one I just finished) that is seemed in some senses a waste of time. It wasn't bad - in fact, I read it because Rod thoroughly enjoyed it - he giggled his way through it and wanted to share the fun. I guess we do have different opinions (*gasp* - it's true!). It was well written, and simultaneously cynical, funny, and empathetic. I think it just wasn't totally my style, and wasn't quite what I was in the mood for.
Who are we that You should notice us; mere mortals that You should care for us? For we are like a breath of air; our days are like a passing shadow. (Ps 144) ...Here are just a few captured moments from our lives...
