Fireworks season in Japan

Summer is the season for fireworks in Japan, and to tell the truth the fireworks they put on here really put our 1st of July shows to shame. Nearly every city has their own fireworks show, and the fireworks usually last at least an hour! Bec and I went to two different firework celebrations in the last two days - here are some highlights (or at least a few pictures that turned out :P). It was my first attempt at taking pictures of fireworks, and I must say, it is a little tough to do.
We were amazed at how many fireworks there were... they just kept coming and coming. The crowds too were enormous!
Bec dressed up in her Yukata (summer kimono) for the first time tonight, and she looked quite good. Many Japanese girls (and some Japanese boys) wear Yukatas to festivals and special events.

And there it is, the grand finale!

Wonderful pictures. Good job Rod!
Just curious to know what kind of reactions, if any, people have to seeing Bec and friends in their Yukata's?

I realized (a little too late) that generally girls who wear yukatas get a few extra looks. Also, no matter what, foreigners usually get some stares. Combine the two....you get some attention.

mm, we should dress up in our yukatas sometime and go out for a night on the town when you're back... ;)
