My favorite students

by Rod
Since I wrote a blog about one of my least favorite students, I figured it was only right to write one about some of my favorite students. Pictured are five of my students whom I have gotten to know rather well over the last year and who have really found a special place in my heart. These are the students who make going to work really enjoyable.
Recently these five invited Rebecca and I out for a farewell dinner - and what a dinner it was! Nearly every Japanese food made a showing, as well as beer and beverages. They gave us gifts, and thanked us for teaching them. It was really amazing to be so honoured.

From left: Iwao, myself, Kazuyo, Harumi (wearing her Yukata), Mai and Mizuki. It was great to enjoy some non-work time with our Japanese friends. Of course, according to Japanese style, we weren't allowed to pay for a thing. Photo rights go to Rebecca, for seizing the moment :)

Here's a little better view of the spread :) It included two kinds of scrumptious fish eggs (the little orange balls on top), as well as octopus, sushi, and beef and other meats which we cooked on a little ceremic self cooker. There was also potato salad, fried chicken, and a few other fine foods.
