He can spend minutes (the equivalent of grown-ups' "hours") playing with the shiny things; in the last little while has tried making some recipes of his own.

Mmmmmm, potatoes! Such a good Dutch boy. -He has been known to do the same with raw onions, so we feel as though potatoes are an improvement.
I don't think I am one to stand in the way of his culinary genius. He could go places with it.
