Un-Gardening

Remember this?

And this?
And this?

Now it looks like this.

This past Saturday, after talking about it for some time (and from an original suggestion by our friendly neighbour lady, Terry), we turned the front garden into a front lawn. I know it could be understood as a home "dis-improvement", rather than an improvement, but we were beginning to feel quite embarrassed every time company came over and had to walk by our "garden." It really was a disgrace. We had tried a few different approaches over the past while - we tried re-organizing, culling, eliminating (select varieties), mulching...None of our approaches seemed to make it look much better. In the end, it boiled down to the facts that 1)I don't know anything about gardening 2)It was just too much work for me to stay on top of 3)It wasn't a priority.
That, and we were more than a little tired of it being used as a neighbourhood kitty litter.
We kept a few of our favourite plants and transplanted them to the back, where they will hopefully be more manageable.
So, as of now, we really do have a "postage stamp" front lawn. And I am good with that.

I think you will be quite happy with your front lawn! How did you get the grass to grow so quickly?

A wonderful thing called "free sod."
I have connections. :)
