A Brief Update

Once again, it has been awhile since I posted on this space. Time and days seem to slip by.
Life has been (again? Or still?) full of blessings and activities.
Rod continues to work full time and then some. Between his two jobs and his church involvement, his/our days and evenings are often quickly taken up. We have increasingly become thankful for our “down” time, as it seems to happen a little less often than we would like.
This past Friday was my last official day working (that is, being on call) before I took maternity leave. I was thankful to have been called in for a few shifts – enough to keep me fresh, but not enough to make me busy; it was what I was hoping for.
Gideon continues to be an active and happy two-year old. He enjoys looking for “goppers” (grasshoppers), going for walks, pulling his wagon, playing with his tractors and trains and blocks, wearing his boots, and eating pancakes. This past weekend we began the task of toilet-training him – so far, it’s been a big learning curve for all of us, and he has been doing well.
We are living in expectation of our new arrival: there are two more weeks until the due date, which means that things could happen at any time. Somehow, as much as the pregnancy has seemed like a long time, the fact that another little one will soon be joining us – rather permanently – has sneaked up on us. It is a strange thought, but it is stranger that it hasn’t quite sunk in yet. Regardless, we are very excited to meet this little person and all of the personality and character that it has.
Life is full. We are blessed.

I remember feeling that way. As I neared the end of my pregnancies, I may have done all the laundry of tiny sleepers, undershirts and receiving blankets, stacked the tiny diapers - but it never seemed more "real" than when I made up the cradle and had it ready.
